Dad Shows Cheap And Free Way To Travel With Kids
Dan Miller and his wife have six kids.
Yep, count’em six kids!
Which means they never leave the house, let alone travel, right?
You would think so, except that wasn’t the life Dan wanted for his kids, so he’s figured out some awesome strategies for families with kids, even a lot of kids, to travel for cheap, and sometimes free.
Dan plays the same “travel hacking” game that my husband discovered a few years ago.
Such an unfortunate term. It basically means channeling money you would spend anyway through credit cards and promotions that allow you to earn zillions of travel points.
The hobby has allowed my husband and I, and sometimes our teenagers, to travel around the world for pennies.
Dan’s niche is travel hacking so he and his wife can travel with their kids.
He runs a website called PointsWithACrew.com. He figures if a family of eight can hit the road, the airways and the train tracks for little to no money, then you should be able to, as well.
So, if you have kids, want to travel and freak at how expensive it is to buy tickets and hotels for everyone, then you need to check out Dan’s site.
On it, you’ll find a handy guide for getting started in the travel hacking game.
Dan has tips on both earning (collecting miles and points) and burning (how to use those miles and points.)
And he has a good sense of humor like his post on flying with his kids and being told by another passenger that he and his wife are the type of people who “shouldn’t have children.”
One more reason to love Dan–he’s using points and miles to take his wife to Europe later this month. Yep, just his wife, no kids!
