Unclaimed Veteran Gets Hero’s Funeral

Ronnie Toler died as you would hope no one would.

Certainly, no war veteran.

When he passed away a few weeks ago in a Dickson, TN rehab center, he had no family.

He had no friends.

There was no one to claim his body.

So, the nurses who cared for him at National Health Care reached out to a local funeral home to see what they could do.

WKRN-TV reports the employees were so moved by Toler’s story, they decided to pitch in and pay for his funeral themselves.

This week, this veteran who died thinking he had no one, was honored with a hero’s burial.  All sorts of folks showed up to pay their respects.

Motorcycle gangs were among the many strangers who showed up to pay their respects to veteran Ronnie Toler.
