Stranger Soothes Stressed Mom’s Crying Baby On Plane

Oh my! We have all been there.

Seated, ready to take off on a crowded airplane when the crying baby shows up.

The crying baby who..will..not..stop..crying!

It’s not like Rebekkah Garvison wanted her 4-month-old baby, Rylee, to keep screaming at the top of her lungs.

After all, when she’s not a crying baby, she looks like a little angel.

Baby Rylee Garvison. How can they be so cute AND then cry so much?

And Rebekkah is a new mom who was simply making her way back from visiting her husband who is an active-duty firefighter stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama.

Rebekkah is a new mom and this was her first time traveling alone with her baby. Even better, this was a 6 am connecting flight from Atlanta to Chicago.

Through the grace of the travel gods, Rebekkah and her screaming baby found themselves seated next to Nyfesha Miller, who happens to the mother of four older kids.

Nyfesha told MLive.com that she was looking forward to getting some rest on the flight, but she knows babies responds to mom’s energy and at this point, Rebekkah was so stressed that there was no way this baby was going to calm down.

Nyfesha says she is not one to butt in, but she asked if she could have a go at holding the baby.

What do you know?

Within seconds, Baby Rylee calmed down and fell asleep in Nyfesha’s arms where she stayed for the entire flight, giving Mama a much needed break.

Nyfesha even carried the baby off the plane when they landed and helped Rebekkah get her stroller all set up.

This new mom was so overwhelmed with this stranger’s act of kindness for her and her crying baby that she posted a thank you note on Facebook.

Here’s a snippet:

“Nyfesha Miller, you will never understand how happy this act of kindness has made my family. You could’ve just rolled your eyes and been irritated like everyone else, but you took her and held her the entire flight and let me get some rest and peace of mind. It brought tears to my eyes while I sat there and watched you and Rylee sleeping next to me. I just couldn’t believe how that ended up working out and how caring you were to us. Thank you SO much!!”

That posting has since gone viral.

It has even inspired a new Facebook page called, “Flight Angels,” where folks can post other acts of kindness they encounter while flying.
