Library-Hotel Where You Sleep Among The Bookshelves

Book lover guest sleep among the bookshelves at Tokyo's Book and Bed Hotel, a library-hotel.

Can you imagine a better place for a book lover to spend the night than in a library-hotel?

Such a place really exists.

The Guardian says Book And Bed opened late last year in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district.

There’s nothing fancy here.

It sounds like it is more of a hostel than a high-end hotel.

Book And Bed’s website explains what you should expect:

“There are no comfortable mattresses, fluffy pillows nor lightweight and warm down duvets.”

More than an upscale experience, the hostel’s creators were looking to create an environment for what they describe as that “greatest moment of sleep,” when you doze off while reading a wonderful book.

You exactly what they are talking about, don’t you fellow avid reader?

I know I do.

Even better–in one of the world’s most expensive cities, this is one cheap way to spend the night in Tokyo.

It’ll cost you about 4500 yen, or $40 to spend the night in one of Book and Bed’s bookshelves. Those shelves include 1,700 titles in Japanese and English.

I say, “Book it!”

The price includes free WiFi, though why would you need to be online if you’re all snuggled in with your favorite book?
