Books I Love For 2016 Holiday Gifts

Great books to give folks you love this 2016 holiday season.

Time is running short.

Your gift list is not.

Whether it’s Secret Santa at work, a girlfriend, your sister, you mom, you need that extra gift.

One she’ll really enjoy.

Here are some I can highly recommend:

“Hope Possible: A Network News Anchor’s Thoughts On Losing Her Job, Finding Love, A New Career, And My Dog, Always My Dog.”

Of course, I’m going to mention my latest book. Only because I’ve been told it really does make a great gift, especially for anyone facing loss, rebuilding their life. Someone who likes to laugh and cry about big dreams that come true and ones that don’t. About the power of girlfriends and that super treasure that is your dog. This is an easy-to-read collection of 80 of my most popular columns. Most pieces are only about 500 words. It’s like you and I get to hang out in little doses.

Hot Children’s Book: “The Moon Inside”

Looking for that special children’s book to give? One that hasn’t been given a zillion times and one that has a great message for kids? “The Moon Inside,” by Sandra V. Feder is it.

Yellow is Ella’s favorite color — she loves the bright, sunny daytime. But every night, as darkness falls, she becomes afraid. When her mother encourages her to look at the soft glow of the moon and fireflies dancing in the night, and to listen to the chirping of crickets and the gentle rustling of the wind, Ella gradually realizes that nighttime can be something to look forward to rather than something to fear.
Kristin Harmel Books

You have that friend, maybe it’s even you, who loves a good love story, hates simple plots, loves fun, flawed characters dipped in history and travel to international places? You can’t go wrong with any Kristin Harmel novel. Her latest is “When We Meet Again.” A once-in-a-lifetime love wrapped in a slice of WWII history I promise you haven’t heard about before with a ticket through the world of a master artist.

Hot Tip: “One Good Mama Bone”

So you’re looking for deep, Southern literature? A book with characters who are going to rip your heart out because you care for them so deeply? You love Pat Conroy and other Southern writers? You’re going to want to get “One Good Mama Bone,” the debut novel by Bren McClain. Themes of struggle, of overcoming obstacles, of what it means to be a mother, of love for an animal embedded deep in your heart, of longing for love and acceptance.  Heads up–this book doesn’t come out officially until February. I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on an advance copy. I’m absolutely loving it. Gift yourself or someone on your list with a pre-order of this book and you will be doing an incredible thing.
