Professor’s Special Talent Helps Man With Alzheimer’s Capture Beautiful Music Before It Disappears Forever

Steve Goodwin tries to remember music he has composed before Alzheimer's steals his memory forever.

A beautiful thing is happening with a musician with Alzheimer’s in Portland, Oregon.

Three years ago, Steve Goodwin was diagnosed with the awful disease.

There is so much that he is losing.

None more heartbreaking than the music he has spent almost 50 years composing and playing for his beloved wife, Joni.

It has been the soundtrack of their long and happy marriage.

The problem is Steve never wrote any of the songs down.

Always played from memory.

His disease started stealing his music before Steve could get it down.

Steve and Joni feared their music was lost forever.

That’s when a special woman stepped in.

Such a beautiful story should only be told by one man.

Steve Hartman of CBS News.
