17,000 Pounds Of Cheese On Its Way To Texas From Wisconsin Companies

Cheese companies in Wisconsin donate 17,000 pounds of cheese to folks in Texas following Hurricane Harvey.

Cheese is the best way to show the love when you’re from Wisconsin.

Showing it, they are, as a number of companies are sending 17,000 pounds of dairy love to folks now trying to rebuild lives in Texas following Hurricane Harvey.

String cheese.

Cheese curds.

Cheddar.

How do you like your cheese?

Chances are it’s on a truck that left Madison, Wisconsin Friday and is making it’s way to the Houston Food Bank.

Oh, and just for good measure, there is also 300 pounds of butter on that truck, as well.

The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board is behind the donation.

The original plan was to get a few companies to donate 200 pounds of dairy love, but the donations and good people get showing up.

So, 17,000 pounds it is!

Suzanne Fanning is a spokeswoman for the board.

She told WMTV that the Wisconsin cheese donors hope to bring a little happiness  to Texans trying to recover from Harvey’s devastation.

“It’s a very small thing for us to do with what they’re facing, but let’s face it: cheese is comfort food. It makes you happy. So, if we can bring a little bit of happiness to the folks down there, then that’s what we want to do,” she said.
