Kindergartener Empties Her Piggy Bank To Pay For Classmates’ Milk

Kindergartner breaks open piggy bank to pay for classmates' milk.

Kindergartener Sunshine Oelfke shows wisdom and generosity know no age.

Her grandmother saw her emptying out her piggy bank and counting her money.

Jackie Oelfke told CBS News she asked her granddaughter what she was doing.

She said, “I’m going to take it for milk money. I’m taking it for my friend Layla,” she explained. “She doesn’t get milk — her mom doesn’t have milk money and I do.”

Sunshine came up with $30 for the first round.

Then, grandma shared Sunshine’s story on Facebook and they started a GoFundMe page.

Sunshine has raised more than $10,000.

Each of the kids in her class will be able to have milk for the rest of the year and then some.
