Body Cam Captures Police Heroes Saving Dog From Burning Apartment Building

Body cam shows Atlanta Police officers save the life of a dog pulled from a burning apartment building fire.

A police body cam captures the dramatic rescue of a dog they’re calling, “Smokey.”

Atlanta police officers say they were just doing their job when they pulled him out of burning apartment building last month.

Fox5Atlanta reports that while fire fighters battled the blaze, police officers checked the area for any signs of life.

That’s when Officer Robert Wrinkler caught something out of the corner of his eye.

The officer’s body cam captured the rescue.

Officer Winkler carried the pup out not knowing if he was still alive.

Once outside, they could tell he was alive, but having trouble breathing.

Officer Austin Denninger pushed on the dog’s chest.

An EMT brought over an oxygen mask.

A real team effort!

Here’s more:

The original story says Smokey was treated and then put up for adoption at the Fulton County Animal Shelter.

Happy update to share–The shelter says “Smokey” has been adopted and is now safe and happy in a new home.
