Teenager Makes Long Distance Pizza Delivery To Man With Cancer

Dalton Shaffer drove three hours across state lines to deliver pizza to a man in hospice. A pizza delivery of kindness.

Drove two hours across state lines and this pizza place doesn’t do deliveries!

This is a pizza delivery with an extra helping of kindness on top.

Julie and Rich Morgan have always loved Steve’s Pizza in Battle Creek, Michigan.

It’s the town where they started married life together. They moved away 20 years ago.  Yet, this whole time, they’ve been talking about Steve’s.

Julie Morgan's dad says his daughter and son-in-law have loved Steve's Pizza in Battle Creek, Michigan since the early days of their marriage.

Fox 17 reports the couple was recently talking about traveling 200 miles from Indianapolis just to eat at Steve’s again. That’s when something awful happened. Rich wound up in the emergency room. The diagnosis? Stage 4 cancer. He went straight to hospice.

Julie’s dad, David Dalke called up Steve’s. The owner’s son, Dalton Shaffer picked up the phone.

“He said that his family was thinking about coming up and grabbing pizza and things like that,” Shaffer said. “But due to the circumstances they weren’t able to do that.”

So that night, minutes away from breaking free of work, Shaffer made an odd suggestion.

“I offered to bring pizza to them,” he said.

Two hours away.

Across the state line.

Fox 17 tells the heartwarming story.

A pizza delivery, hours away, from a pizza shop that doesn’t even deliver.

I needed this story today.

You can say this is just  pizza.

That it doesn’t make evil go away.

I would disagree.

I see a young man who saw an opportunity to do something different.

To make a difference.

To bring a slice of joy to a family in pain.

Kindness, the most delicious topping of all.
