I'm visiting good friends back in my old stomping grounds of Phoenix, AZ this weekend.
All week long on the local news in Atlanta I had heard what a nightmare it's become getting through security at Hartfield Jackson Airport.
"The lines take two hours!" the reporter assured me.
Clearly, the pictures did not lie. Hot, frustrated summer travellers standing in lines that snaked throughout the airport.
I made sure to allow myself extra time, leaving over two hours early.
Here's my report: It took me exactly four minutes to get through security. Four minutes! That is no lie!
It was all I could do to whip out my laptop, take off my shoes, give up the deed to my house, y'know, all the stuff they want you to do before you pass through the metal detector.
Forget about snaking lines. This was more like the Indy 500.
The security folks were courteous and efficient.
"What's the deal?" I asked them as I was gathering up my things. "I heard on the news all week that this was supposed to be a nightmare."
They kind of just smiled, shrugged their shoulders and carried on with their jobs getting folks through security like Lucy and Ethel in that famous candy factory episode.
Now, I have no doubt that things were really bad at the airport earlier in the week. And you can't be an Amercian traveller and not run into hassles these days. I get that.
But, where were the cameras when things were going great? Where was the story on the local news about record times getting folks through security?
Would be nice to have a little balance. That's what the guys at Gimundo.com are about.
Chris Case and Keith Cohn are today's featured story. A sitcom writer and businessman who created another good news website.
They are dedicated to what they call, "Good News Served Daily."
Like me, they think it is important to be informed and consider themselves news junkies.
They just want to add a little balance to your life. There are things that go right. There are people doing good jobs.
That includes Chris and Keith with their new website. I hope you'll check out Gimundo.com.
