"And whom am I speaking with?"
It's the question I get almost every time I make any kind of reservation. Hotel. Plane. Whatever.
If I'm making a reservation for someone named, "Daryn," then surely, I must be the female assistant to the man named, "Daryn."
"This is Daryn," I always assure them. "The only woman named, 'Daryn' you'll speak to all day."
That usually gets a small laugh out of the person on the other side of the line.
But the joke may soon be over.
Seems there are a few female Daryns popping up across America.
I've already shared with you that I have huge honor and joy of having my little namesake, BD. Baby Daryn and her mom, my friend Heidi, came to visit Atlanta this summer. Here's a picture of Baby Daryn and Aunt Daryn at the park.

And now, I'm also hearing from Daryn Skjefte. She's an 8th grader in Warner, SD. This Daryn doesn't just share my name. She shares my passion for storytelling.
"I think you are really cool," she wrote me not too long ago. I think it would be fun to always be keeping track and reporting the latest news. I also think your website is awesome!"
I decided to give 8th grade Daryn a jump start on her career, asking her to report some good things going on in her hometown.
Not only did she report, she sent a photo.

That's Daryn on the right. Her friend Bailey on the left.
As for positive things, Daryn reports that volleyball is basically her life.
Well, shoot, I'll just let you read Daryn's report for yourself:
Like I said, I'm an eigth grader. I' ve played volleyball since the 4th grade. I absolutly love it! This year I am playing on my school's highschool Junior Varsity team. So far we are 5-1. We always try really hard and have fun! Is that what you were looking for when you said something positive, because it is definitely positive in my life!
Great job, Daryn! I love volleyball, too. I played my freshman year of high school.
I think just about any sport is great for to participate in. And I very much appreciate your report from Warner, SD.
Any other Daryn's out there? This could be a growing club. Drop me a line at Daryn@DarynKagan.com and like Daryn Skjefte and Baby Daryn in California, I'll put you up on the site.
