What an amazing time I had Saturday night!
This website turns "1" tomorrow and the challenge was how to celebrate one of the most incredible years of my life.
See, the deal is, I honestly believe I won the media job lottery. Every day I get to meet and interview the most amazing people. But, I do it by myself.
Sure, I share my experiences with friends and family. And I turn the interviews into videos you can share with your friends and family. But, I'm the only one who gets to experience these amazing people first hand.
Until Saturday night.
My vision was to bring DarynKagan.com to life. So, I invited all the folks I've featured who happen to live in the Atlanta area to come to a party with my usual crowd who I invite to my annual holiday party. Celebratin' started early this year.
All I can say is, "Wow!"
One-legged ballroom dancer George Velasquez set the tone as he performed with his partner, Jill Coe.
91-year-old sculptor Bill Montgomery brought along some of his favorite pieces and was the life of the party.
Adrienne Simpson was there sharing her story of re-inventing herself after two corporate layoffs.
Becky Douglas, who was the subject of my first PBS documentary, brought amazing photographs sharing her incredible work in India.
Laura and Susan Stachler shared their delicious Susan Snap ginger cookies and their story fighting cancer.
CNN anchor Betty Nguyen had stories of her most recent humanitarian aid trip back to her native Vietnam.
And Britt Menzies shared her adorable Stinky Kids Tshirts that help raise money for cancer research.
I dare say folks left the party electrified by all that is possible.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate and share an incredible year. It was also a chance to say, "Thank you!" to everyone who has helped make this dream a reality.
I told the crowd there that night that if they were at the party, they were part of this success, in their support and their love.
I extend that to each of you, as well. Just by stopping by DarynKagan.com and soaking in the inspiration, you are part of what makes this website go.
So, thank you! Thanks for your support, thanks for an incredible year. Here's to all that's possible for year two!
