I just wanted to say, "Happy Valentine's Day!" to each and every one of you.
I mean that if you have your own special Valentine or not.
I suspect if you do have the love of your life by your side, it's easy to dismiss this day as a Hallmark creation.
And if the love of your life has yet to show up, something as simple as walking into any store can be oh so painful.
Maybe, like one very nice man who wrote to me earlier this week, you were blessed to have a great love for many years, and they've now passed on. He was moved by February 11th blog about endings.
He wrote, "Thanks so much for this blog entry. I needed to be reminded that while I am still trying to say goodbye to my wife who died at the all too early age of 55 in March 2004, we were very lucky. We were lucky to have found each other. We were truly blessed that some unselfish stranger donated a kidney to her. We were blessed to have an extra 20 years to be together because of that gift. As you so rightly point out our life was good; that's the part I choose to remember. Thanks for reminding me."
To that, I say, "Thanks for reminding me about all the different kinds of love out there." There is the love that kidney donor showed, the love this man and his wife shared for so many years, and the love that he still carries in his heart."
Need any more infusions of love on this day? I hope you'll click over to the Love Bucket and let your heart have its fill.
Meanwhile, whether you receive 100 Valentines or not a single one, know that you are receiving love from me.
