Sharing some of my post-Oscar thoughts:
-I can't believe I stayed up for the entire show. I don't think I've done that since the days when I used to cover the Academy Awards for CNN. The more time goes by I realize how special an opportunity that was AND the more I realize how happy I am to be home in my jammies.
-I haven't seen a single film that was nominated. That's also a huge difference from the days when I had to see EVERYTHING. The ones that intrigue me the most: Rachel Getting Married and Slumdog Millionaire, although I hear there is some pretty graphic violence in the latter (guaranteed to give me bad dreams.)
-I think Hugh Jackman did a fine job. He's a throwback to a true song and dance man entertainer.
-At first I didn't like the gimmick with the multiple presenters speaking directly to the nominees, but it grew on me as the night went on. I think it was most effective with the women. There was something very powerful about screen legends speaking directly to the nominees.
-I think Anne Hathaway had on my favorite dress. I will share that I would like to see more color on the ladies. What's with all the white dresses? They look like wedding gowns. I read somewhere that white sparkles and looks great on HD television, that's why stylists are picking so much white for the stars. Still, I'd love to see color.
-Did you notice the theme running through the ads? It's all about inspiration. True North Snacks had the best spot. They searched the country for their favorite inspiring story and had Helen Hunt produce the commercial. The winner was a woman named Lisa Nigro who runs a program called "Inspiration Café," serving the homeless population of Chicago. You can see it here. Mutual of Omaha also picked the night to debut their new Aha Moment Campaign.
-I'd love hear your thoughts on Oscar night. Please share over in our social online community!
