A Broken Heart: I Need To Find An App For That
I’m wishing for a magic potion.
Something.
Anything.
To heal my friend’s heart.
My friend who has been by my side, it feels like forever.
My friend, who’s husband has left.
The only man she has ever loved.
He’s decided he needs to go find something, someone better out there.
Yeah, one of those stories.
He’s taken off for what he thinks is greener pastures.
Good luck to him.
There’s no one better than my friend.
What to do for her?
Is it like that for you, too, Dear Reader?
It’s one thing to have your own broken heart. It’s excruciating to watch someone else’s pain.
Wouldn’t it be great if I could show her video of the happier days that are on their way?
Is there an app for that?
Another friend inspired this idea.
One who is on the other side of heartbreak.
She posted a short video on Facebook this week.
24-seconds from the security camera above her garage.
24 simple seconds of her husband waving goodbye.
Something so nothing, yet it so everything.
How cute is that?
Possibly, “Gag me,” cute, I know.
Please give Kathy a break.
She’s a newlywed.
She’s found happiness after long stretch of sad.
And it’s a delight to witness.
She shared her divorce over Facebook.
Her pain,
And then, slowly, her new romance.
Turns out her divorce wasn’t just about the icky first husband who shattered her heart when he left.
It was about clearing her life.
About that One who was on the way.
Ultimately about John, a widower with his own broken heart.
They found each other.
I tried my Future Video App idea out on Kathy.
“What if I could’ve played you this video when you were at your very saddest? 24 simple seconds to show you that this is what and who is on the way. What would you have said?”
“If someone had told me five years ago that I’d be married to this wonderful man, living on a peninsula overlooking the ocean, and my kids lived across the country, and I had two great stepsons and a big red dog, I would’ve told you that you probably had the wrong person.”
I believe her.
I’ve been the same.
Perhaps, you, too?
When sad, hard times come.
When someone we love very much leaves.
We can’t see that it could be part of a bigger picture.
About who might be on the way.
Maybe that’s why there’s no app for that.
I guess that’s what they call, “faith.”
Trusting this might be for the best.
I’m now clear on my mission.
To let my friend’s tears come.
To let her have her sad.
To believe when she can’t.
It’s called being a friend.
There’s no app for that.
That’s okay.
I got this one down.
Been doing this forever and will keep doing forever.
He might’ve left, but I’m not going anywhere.
Ever.
And if this is you, you who has the broken heart, you who can’t see the vision right now of what and who might be on the way.
Please know, that is absolutely fine.
That’s not your job right now.
Just know that the vision is seen so clearly and safely guarded in your friend’s heart.
As it is in mine.
