Baby’s Life Saved By $20 “Google Cardboard” Contraption

A little baby and her family have a new contraption called, “Google Cardboard,” and an innovative team of doctors at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami to thank for saving her life.

Weeks ago, Cassidy Lexcen gave birth to twin girls. One of them, Ryleigh, was fine. Her sister, Teegan, was born with only one lung and half her heart.

Tragically, doctors in Minnesota, where the girls were born told Teegan’s parents there was nothing they could do. They should take their little girl home and wait for her to die.

Twins Ryleigh and Teegan Lexcen will now grow up together after doctors used Google Cardboard to help save Baby Teegan's life.

The Lexcens wouldn’t stand for that. Through research, they found their way to the doctors in Miami who are using Google Cardboard to see inside a patient’s body before the surgery.

CBS Miami and CNN report he simple cardboard viewer and a free app allow the user to turn a picture into a 3D image.

Doctors explain more about Teegan’s successful surgery.

Interested in your own Google Cardboard? You can get it here.
