Divorced Mom Rebuilds Her Family’s Life With Her Own Two Hands
Kelley Lewis never planned to be 29, divorced and depressed with three little kids.
It’s where she found herself a few years ago.
A combination of personal choices and bad breaks.
She tells Yahoo! that she was busy trying to get her professional life off the ground in her mid-20’s when she got pregnant. She married the dad and their one-week “anniversary,” he told his pregnant wife that their marriage had been a mistake — though they would eventually spend five years “trying to make something that wasn’t meant to be, meant to be.”
And they had two more kids.
By the time Kelley was delivering her third baby, he was gone.
Using a loan, Kelley bought herself her own “Push” gift, a small piece of land near a lake.
Then came the question of what to do with it.
She stumbled on the Tiny House Movement and fell in love.
She started with sketches from HGTV’s 2011 Dream Home and went from there.
Here’s Kelley’s story about starting over, about showing her kids what’s possible, and rebuilding her life in a way she hadn’t imagined.
It’s about not needing a lot of stuff to have everything and more you ever dreamed of.
