Doctor Writes Cancer Patient Prescription For Best Medicine Ever-Get A Puppy

Dr. Sharon Ben-Or wrote a prescription for cancer patient Russ Poole to get a puppy to help settle a dispute with Poole's wife.

Patient Ben Poole knew what would make him feel best of all–to get a puppy

Ben Poole had a big battle ahead of him when he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer last year.

He was dealing with that and the recent loss of his dog.

He wanted a new one.

His wife was a big no. She was overwhelmed with all his treatments and doctor appointments. Adding a dog was just one thing too many.

So, she put him off by saying when the doctor, Dr. Sharon Ben-Or, wrote him a prescription for a puppy, that’s when they would get one.

Well…

The Greenville News has the story.

About that name, Ben-Or Snickerdoodle Sto. That’s a big name for one dog. Russ explains the name is a combination of named after the doctor and his family’s favorite place to go on vacation, Edisto Island, South Carolina.
