Doughnut Shop Puts Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Face On Doughnuts As A Sweet Tribute
Dr. Fauci’s face on a doughnut is a way celebrate those on the coronavirus frontlines
A doughnut shop in Rochester, New York is selling doughnuts featuring the face of Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Dr. Fauci is the longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and has become one of the most trusted experts as the coronavirus crisis takes over the country.
Nick Semeraro owns Donuts Delite. He says his shop has been making them since last week. They’ve sold thousands.
He explained to WCBS-AM how they actually pull this off with edible printable paper.
He told WHAM-TV “It started as a thank you. It’s sticking, and I think it’s great. People are stuck at home and what’s happening is, it’s starting conversations. Whether they pick it up for someone, it starts that thinking outside of the box and giving back.”
I’m not sure if Semeraro meant to make a pun about a donut box, but clearly lots of folks see the delite and humor in the Dr. Fauci doughnuts.
Late night host Jimmy Kimmel featured the donuts on his show.
Kimmel had a great point, “Making doughnuts to bring attention to a health crisis might be the most American thing any American has ever done.”
