UPDATE: Fox News Correspondent Ed Henry Says He’s Doing Great After Donating Part Of His Liver To His Sister
Fox News correspondent Ed Henry says he and his sister are doing great after surgery
Ed says the first time he got to see his sister, Colleen, after surgery they toasted with apple juice.
He’s moved from ICU to a private room.
Even though he feels like he’s been hit by a truck, he hopes to get out of the hospital soon.
Fox News correspondent and host Ed Henry made a big announcement Sunday on “Fox And Friends.”
He is donating part of his liver to his younger sister, Colleen.
He explained that she suffers from a genetic disorder that attacks her liver. Ed lucked out and didn’t get the disease.
His sister is on the National Registry waiting for an anonymous donor.
Big brother didn’t want to wait. He stepped up and has been going through a number of tests in recent months.
There were hurdles before Ed was approved as a donor
It wasn’t totally smooth sailing. Doctors told him he needed to lose some weight before they would let him be a donor.
He’s taken care of that and as he pointed out, he’s helping his sister get healthier and turns out she’s helping him get healthier, too.
My personal connection to Ed
Here’s the thing about Ed.
He might be on Fox, but he grew up at CNN. We were on the air together quite a bit.
We are still friends to this day.
I know in these contentious times there are people who see “Fox News” or “CNN” and totally shut down.
Truth is, at the end of the day, it’s about people.
One courageous, generous act.
The surgery is Tuesday.
I’ll be rooting for you and your sister, Friend!
Wish Ed & his sister well!
Feel free to wish Ed and his sister well and I’ll be sure to forward your kind comments to him. Just leave them in the Comments section at the bottom of this post.
