Girl Uses Google Translate To Invite Lonely New Classmate To Lunch
A big thanks to a fifth grade girl and Google Translate for this splash of kindness.
Amanda Moore noticed a new boy in her class at Paloma Elementary School in Temecula, California.
Her mom, Kimber Kinard, told CBS News, “I always say, ‘Find the new kid.’ Always. Find the new kid. They may not stay your friend, but they won’t forget that you made them welcome in that school.”
When it came to this new boy, including the new kid was easier said then done.
Amanda tried, but discovered the boy didn’t speak English.
She could’ve given up there.
Instead, Amanda turned to Google Translate, using the tool to craft a note the boy could understand.
Kimber posted a video on Facebook of Amanda practicing her message where she invited him to come sit with her at lunch.
A friendship blossomed.
His name is Rafael.
Amanda even taught him the ropes on trick or treating at Halloween.
