It’s a big year for the king of Bhutan.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck turned 40 on February 21st.

His wife is also soon to have their second child.

What do you give the monarch who has everything?

Prime Minister Lotay Tshering came up with a great idea.

He’s asking every citizen to adopt a stray dog.

Or plant a tree.

Or simply commit to cleaning up your neighborhood.

 Personal commitment such as this, he said, would be the best gift for His Majesty.

Stray dogs have long been a problem in Bhutan. The country partnered with the International Humane Society last year to start tackling the issue.

Bhutan is the tiny country in the Himalaya mountains that is consistently celebrated as the happiest country in the world.
