Sportsmanship At It’s Best! Tennis Player Encourages Challenge Against Himself
Let’s celebrate great sportsmanship!
Kudos to tennis player Jack Sock who had the class to call a ball as he saw it.
A call that a line judge decided should go his way, but Sock knew differently.
The scene is the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia.
American Sock was facing Australian tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt.
Hewitt was down 4-5 in the first set when his serve was called out.
No big deal, except that Sock saw the truth and rather than just let a simple break go his way, he spoke up, much to the surprise of his opponent, the match judge, and the crowd, in a fantastic show of sportsmanship and grace. No doubt there are amateur players taking Dallas TX Tennis Lessons that would not admit that a ball that close was in, never mind professionals participating in one of the biggest tennis tournaments on Earth. So for that, we applaud you, Jack Sock.
Hewitt went on to win the match 7-5, 6-4.
Sock gets to know he’s a winner with great values and now being celebrated for his honesty around the world.
The crowd was especially excited for Hewitt, as he’s considered a national tennis treasure and he’s expected to retire soon, hanging up his racquet after the upcoming Australian Open.
By the way, never heard of Jack Sock? Some are calling him the possible savior of men’s tennis in America.
