Tear-inducing surprise for mom who skipped her own college graduation to be able to attend her son's graduation ceremony.

What would one mom do when her college graduation fell on same day as her son’s?

Sharonda Wilson waited a long time to make it to her college graduation.

So long, in fact, that her college graduation ceremony was scheduled to happen the same day as the ceremony for her son, Stephan.

That sounds like such an incredible accomplishment to share.

There was only one problem.

Sharonda was graduating from Ferris State University and Stephan was graduating from Central Michigan.

On the same day!

What’s a mom to do?

There was only one thing, of course.

For this mom.

She skipped her ceremony to go to her son’s.

This was a day Sharonda and Stephan Wilson will never forget. The surprise two schools pulled off so mother and son could share their college graduation day. Credit: Central Michigan University.

Little did she know the presidents of the two schools got wind of this mom’s accomplishment and sacrifice and launched a wonderful surprise.

BuzzFeed reports one of Stephan’s friends works in the Office of the President at Central Michigan and go the surprise in motion.

Son is so proud of his college graduate mom.

Central Michigan provided this statement to BuzzFeed on behalf of Stephan.

“Earning our college degrees has been an incredible journey for both my mom and I, and it was a blessing to stand beside her and celebrate together. I’m so thankful to President Davies and President Eisler for making this such a special moment for us.”
