Uber, Lyft Giving Veterans Free Rides To Job Interviews
What a great way to put veterans in the driver’s seat to build a better life!
Ride-sharing services Uber and Lyft are donating thousands of free rides to veterans so they can get to job interviews and places of employment.
Military Times reports that getting to work, even to a job interview is a huge hurdle for a lot of homeless veterans. The UK should definitely get on board with this. The first few simple things you would need to do this though, transport wise, is a van and a insurance. You may want to look into a site like One Sure Insurance who provide cheap van insurance and help you find the latest deals on the market.
What better way for companies like Uber and Lyft to give veterans the actual lift they need.
The most recent estimates put the number of homeless veterans in America at just under 50,000 people. The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans estimates that more than two-thirds of those veterans live without access to reliable transportation, limiting their ability to gain and hold jobs.
The companies will work with the US Labor Department which coordinates with various veterans groups.
Uber is making it possible for you to give to veterans, as well. USAToday reports the company is adding functionality to its app and website that allows you to donate $5 toward additional rides for veterans.
Huge, “Hooray!” for Uber and Lyft.
And even huger, “Thank you!” to all veterans for your service!
