Video Conference Weddings Now Legal In New York State Thanks To Governor’s Executive Order
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo makes video conference weddings legal
Video conference weddings are now the new legal answer to frustrated brides and grooms in New York state.
Saturday, Governor Andrew Cuomo made it the new law of the land.
Here’s the governor’s official tweet.
I love one woman’s response!
Aww.. that's sweet. Thank you, Gov Cuomo!— CountessofNambia (@theClaudiaInez) April 18, 2020
Can you also help me find a husband? I'd need an executive order for that. A non-douche husband this time.
His aide Melissa DeRosa announced during a news conference, “We are today signing an executive order allowing people to get their marriage licenses remotely and also allowing clerks to perform ceremonies over video.”
So many weddings have been canceled
Seems like just about everyone knows a couple who has run into wedding snafus.
I shared a great story last week about one couple who got around their canceled wedding with the help of wedding chaplain they’d never met.
Even that wedding wouldn’t be possible under today’s lockdown guidelines.
My friend and former CNN colleague, Natalie Allen, shared on her Instagram feed how she had to postpone her April wedding to Emory University business professor Jeffrey Rosensweig.
Metro shares how one British couple is ahead of the curve.
Ben Jackson and Sophie Austin were supposed to be married in front of 200 guests the first weekend of April.
They canceled the big shindig and held their ceremony over Zoom.
More than 200 guests “attended.”
The bride said it was amazing.
She told Metro, “I think it really drew back the sparkliness and extra stuff of a wedding and made it really obvious what was important: the two of us saying the vows to each other.”
Do you need a digital wedding chaplain?
If you’re looking to get married via Zoom, I can highly recommend Daria MacGregor at Circle of Love Weddings. You should definitely reach out to discuss your options.
