Adidas Sells One Million Sneakers Made Of Ocean Trash
Ocean trash is enough to make you cry if you are a sea lover like I am.
It’s enough to get inspired, if you are shoe-maker Adidas.
The sneaker brand has come up with a way to make sneakers from plastic bottles littering the oceans of the world.
The company announced it has now sold it’s one millionth pair of shoes made from ocean trash.
The UltraBoost shoe is all made from plastic debris found in the ocean.
Each pair reuses about 11 plastic bottles per pair and feature laces. The heel lining and sock liner covers that are made from recycled materials.
Fortune Magazine reports these shoes are a follow up to other merchandise made with plastic found in the ocean. In November, Adidas unveiled soccer jerseys and running shoes. The gear was a limited release, but it resonated with shoppers: Adidas says the first UltraBoost Uncaged Parley was the best-selling shoe at the company’s newly store on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
