Billionaire Used Amex Card To Buy Masterpiece-For The Airline Points!
Here’s a guy after my Mad Scientist Miles Chasing Husband’s Heart.
Chinese billionaire Liu Yiqian recently sent tongues wagging in the art world when he bought Armedo Modigliani’s masterpiece, “Reclining Nude” at auction for a whopping $170 million!
That’s the second highest price ever paid for a piece of art at auction.
The New York Times reports Yiqian is clearly playing in the arena of the mega-rich. He and his wife are major art collectors who display their collection at two different art museums in Shanghai.
The part I love and my husband will flip for–Yiqian’s wife, Wang Wei, says her husband paid for the masterpiece with his American Express card. His Amex Centurion card, to be specific.
The New York Post did the math–the purchase will earn Yiqian 422 million Amex points which can be converted to 28 million frequent flyer points.
All that and this masterpiece.
I don’t know about you, but I know my crazy husband will appreciate the miles play more than the painting.
