Grandson Shares Grandmother’s Delightful, Polite Google Search

Grandmother delights the world when she includes please and thank you in her google search.

Ben John didn’t know if he would be the only one who would be delighted, but when he came upon his grandmother’s Google search, he knew he had to share it.

The BBC reports Ben John was at his gran’s house in Britain to do some laundry when he asked to borrow her laptop.

He opened it up to see she had been searching for something on Google.

May Ashworth simply wanted to a translation of a long line of roman numerals.

The thing that tickled Ben–His grandmother started her request with “please” and ended it with “thank you.”

Apparently, Mrs. Ashworth thinks there is a person on the other end of Google search box and if you use good manners, then you’ll get better, faster service.

Hey, I’ve heard crazier ideas!

So why the big interest in Roman numerals from an 86-year-old British granny?

Ben tells the BBC that his grandma likes to watch television and has an interest in when programs were made.

Television shows still use Roman numerals on their credits to show the year of the program.

“She saw a TV show the other day but couldn’t work out from the credits when it was made, so she put the numerals into Google,” said Ben.

“It made me chuckle so I thought I’d take a photo and put it on Twitter for my friends to see. I didn’t expect so many other people to see it!”

Grandson Ben John took a screenshot of the delightful Google search he found on his grandmother’s laptop including good manners, using “please” and “thank you.”

They sure did!

People around the world have been retweeting the photo and sending love to Ben and his grandmother.

Even the head of GoogleUK saw it and messaged Ben, “In a world of billions of searches, yours made us smile.”

Me, too, Ben.

Me, too.

Tell your Nan, “Thank you very much for the smile!”
