How One New Jersey Mom Created Thriving Giving Organic Skin Care Company From Her Dining Room Table
Gilly Garrett thought she was creating organic skin care for herself
Gilly Garrett has found a formula for so much more than organic skin care.
She’s found a way to give back.
Big time.
It started at her dining room table
It started as a simple experiment to create a scrub made of oils and sugar.
She started getting so many compliments from friends they started asking her for some of her beauty secrets.
She started selling a little.
Then more.
And more.
Whole Foods here she comes
Today, Gilly’s Organics includes 9 products and counting.
She’s in 10 stores across the Northeast. It’s now one of the organic skin care brands featured at some Whole Foods.
Garrett says the best part is finding her thriving business is a way to give back.
Part of her proceeds go to support sending girls to schools they otherwise wouldn’t have access to. She works with WE.org to channel funds to help educate girls.
No overnight success
It’s been a 10 year journey to get to this point.
She left a successful corporate marketing career behind to go for her dream.
There’s definitely been financial sacrifices and challenges along the way.
Her best advice?
Even with all that, what would she say to herself 10 years ago?
“You should’ve started sooner.”
It’s been that grand of a ride and in many ways, Gilly’s Organics is just getting started.
