Wave Of Kindness For Homeless Man Who Spent His Last $20 To Rescue Stranded Woman
An angel appeared in the form of a homeless man for one young woman after she ran out of gas on a dark Philadelphia highway.
27-year-old Kate McClure was driving late one night earlier this month when she felt her car start to chug.
That dreaded chug.
The out-of-gas sputter.
She made it to the side of an offramp and called her boyfriend who said he would come rescue her.
He was an hour away.
Meanwhile, a homeless man walked up to her car.
He told Kate to lock her doors and he would go buy her gas.
Sure enough, 10 minutes later, the man was back with gas.
He’d spent his last $20 to save this woman he’d never met before.
Philly.com reports Kate had no money to repay the man but she made a promise right there.
She, too, would be back.
McClure came back a few times with clothes and food, but she wanted to do more.
So, she set up a GoFundMe page for the man she’s come to know is Johnny Bobbitt, Jr.
A former Marine.
Kate writes, “I am raising money for Johnny. With the money, I would like to get him first and last month’s rent at an apartment, a reliable vehicle, and 4-6 months worth of expenses. He is very interested in finding a job, and I believe that with a place to be able to clean up every night and get a good night’s rest, his life can get back to being normal.”
Her original goal was $10,000.
The account is now up to almost $200,000!
Here’s to kindness.
To angels.
And lifting each other up.
